Who it's for

One course, a whole toolkit

Most people don't need to be plumbers, sparkies and decorators all at once — but homeowners, landlords and anyone dreaming of going self-employed keeps meeting the same jobs. This course deals with them all, hands-on, one trade at a time.

Future self-employed

Property maintenance is in demand and this course is built for it: the practical skills, an honest assessment, and a whole day on pricing, finding work and dealing with customers.

Landlords & homeowners

Stop paying call-out fees for jobs you could do yourself. Ten days covers the repairs and refreshes that eat most maintenance budgets.

Career changers

No experience needed. Small groups, step-by-step guidance, and every day hands-on — you build confidence with every skill.

The full ten days

What you'll learn

Every day is hands-on practical training — small class sizes, all tools and materials provided, step-by-step guidance.

Days 1–3 · Plumbing

Soldering & copper pipework, compression & push-fit, taps & mixers, toilets & cisterns, sinks, wastes & traps, radiators & valves, leaks, faults & fixes, outside taps. The full plumbing foundation from our 3-Day course, at a steadier pace.

Day 4 · Flooring

Laminate flooring done properly: tools and preparation, cutting and fitting, door trims, finishing borders. Clean, professional finish.

Day 5 · Skirting & architrave

Measuring and cutting, fitting skirting boards, internal and external corners, architrave around doors, mitres and joints, neat finishing.

Day 6 · Electrical awareness

Home electrics explained, consumer unit basics, changing sockets, ceiling roses and lights, one-way switches, safety and good practice. Awareness for simple jobs done safely — not electrician certification, and we'll always say so.

Day 7 · Power tools & fixings

Drill, driver and bits; screws, plugs and anchors; fixing to brick, block and plasterboard; choosing the right tool; safe working practices.

Day 8 · Painting & decorating

Preparation and protection, cutting in neatly, roller techniques, painting walls and ceilings, doors and woodwork. The finish people actually notice.

Day 9 · Assessment

You'll complete practical tasks across everything you've learned. It's your chance to show what you can do — under the standard below.

Day 10 · Business & self-employment

How to price jobs, find work, deal with customers and start building your own property maintenance business. Real numbers, honest advice.

Real standards

“Would I accept this work in my own home?”

My assessment standard

Paying for the course does not guarantee you pass. If I wouldn't be happy paying for that standard of work in my own home, I won't tell you that you're ready to charge somebody else.

Not quite ready? Additional training and reassessment is £250 per day — extra time, extra practice, on the areas you need. My goal is your success.

What I look for

  • Safe — no risks or shortcuts
  • Functional — works as it should
  • Reliable — built to last
